Background: We have conducted a variety of training courses from our home base in Sedbergh as well as Lancaster University.
We were the first to offer ArcGIS CityEngine training worldwide, and we’ve been doing project work with it since 2009. Since 2013 we have been conducting formal CityEngine training courses for a wide range of clients.
We mostly deliver our CityEngine course over Microsoft Teams, but we can deliver courses in-person as well. We have delivered successfully our training for a variety of organisations large and small both here in the UK and worldwide.
What is the offering? We offer a core course called ArcGIS CityEngine for Professionals, this 2-day session covers the basics and gets the trainee familiar not only with the interface but also CGA/rule coding a core functionality of this procedural modelling tool. We also offer a 3-day session which is the same as the 2-day but the additional day can be used to cover specific client workflows and data (think of it as a workshop or consultancy day).
On top of the standard training we can deliver specific targeted knowledge transfer and/or project support, subject to a discussion with the client.
Our training is flexible and designed to meet client requirements whilst still covering the basics. We do offer variations on the course depending on who you are.
- ArcGIS CityEngine for Professionals
A standardised course aimed at geospatial and built environment professionals, this course aims to get the trainee familiarised with the user interface and confident in procedural coding for 3D geometry creation and reporting. The course covers simple building structures and reporting as well as common workflows. The 3-day version of this course allows for client workflows and data to be used and explored. Outputs from this can be used in ArcGIS Pro and the wider Esri platform as well additional third-party platforms. - ArcGIS CityEngine for Military Organisations
Similar to the standardised CityEngine course this focuses on a similar set of outcomes such as user interface familiarisation and the basics of coding for procedural modelling. A key difference from the ‘for Professionals’ course is inclusion of the creation of simple military structures for the creation of context modelling for common operation picture 3D mapping. Outputs from this can be used in ArcGIS Pro and the wider Esri platform as well additional third-party platforms. - ArcGIS CityEngine for Academic Organisations
Very similar to the ArcGIS for Professionals course but with discounted rate and run more informally as more of a workshop. - ArcGIS CityEngine Knowledge Transfer
Some clients already have knowledge in the use of CityEngine in their organisation but require help or advice on workflows or coding of an advanced nature that is not covered in Esri tutorials or our standard training packages. Here we can work alongside you to acquire additional working knowledge of CityEngine.
We can offer access to Virtual Machines (Windows Desktops) with ArcGIS CityEngine installed and ready to use for all our course offerings. This means trainees all have the same experience and no additional licences or installations are required.
Information & Pricing
Pricing is negotiated depending on organisation requirements and number of trainees, we can work on a per person per day, or per, or lump sum depending on requirements.
Garsdale Design is a proud Esri Partner and EsriUK’s official CityEngine training provider here in the UK. We can provide CityEngine training worldwide with the help of our partners as well as Esri Distributors.
